SOLICITOR
Martin is a solicitor specialising in residential property.
He has a wide range of experience including helping first-time buyers get on the property ladder with shared ownership, lease extensions, transferring tenanted property, exclusivity agreements, declarations of trust, home equity release and adverse possession.

Martin also takes part in promoting the firm by contributing content for social media and representing the firm at networking events. In 2023 he was named a Legal Hero by The Law Society of England and Wales.
AREA OF PRACTICE
Training
Martin studied English at the University of Southampton (2:1) before completing the graduate diploma in law and legal practice course at the University of Law Guildford (commendation).
Martin is a committee member of Surrey Junior Lawyers Division and an active member of the Junior Lawyers Division.
Martin qualified as a solicitor in July 2020 after spending his two year training contract with us working closely with our solicitors to gain experience in all of our practice areas.
Outside the office
In his spare time, Martin is a dedicated and accomplished runner. He says that running gives him the energy and focus he needs to juggle tasks throughout the day.
In 2019 Martin organised a team from Julie West Solicitors to walk both the Guildford (10km) and London (full marathon) Legal Walks to raise money for access to justice in Surrey and London. In 2021 he walked a marathon from Witley to Dorking.
Examples of recent work
Supported a victim of financial crime with claiming the proceeds of sale from a residential property partially bought with the proceeds of crime, a situation novel both to the client’s financial crime solicitor and the Crown Prosecution Service.
Advised clients on tax-efficient property transfers.
Obtained refunds of higher-rate stamp duty land tax for additional dwellings.
Successfully effected the 2-week sale of a £2.25 million property which had been subject to a home rights notice.
Transferred a freehold portfolio of 15 blocks of flats.
Advised on covenants regarding a flying freehold in a privately-owned estate and amended these at the Land Registry.
Martin has acted for clients in Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex, London, Devon, Yorkshire, Bristol, Liverpool, Scotland, Canada, Europe, the United States of America, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Martin is currently dealing with registering deeds of appointment and replacement of trustees at the Land Registry.
